NOW OFFERING SLIDING SCALE FEES IN IRVING, TX
As the child of Nigerian immigrants, I was raised to be a “go-getter”, and chase the
“American Dream”. However, the only possible career paths that were discussed at home were
the Big 3: I was to become either an engineer, a doctor, or a lawyer. I loved AP Psychology in
high school, so I decided to become a psychology major in undergrad. Though, I added a
concentration in pre-medical studies. I went through college taking my pre-med courses, but
there was a huge disconnect, and I did not really like them. At the start of my last semester, I
knew I could not become a medical doctor. I did not have the heart for it (and I was never really
that good with blood!) I was much more interested in what goes on in a person’s psyche, soul,
and spirit. I finally told my family that I was not going to be their MD. I had thoughts of
becoming a therapist, but I did not know anyone who had pursued this career, and I didn’t know
how to go about it. However, that semester, I took a class—the African American Family—and
my professor happened to be a licensed marriage and family therapist. This was the confirmation
I needed, and I applied for graduate programs in marriage and family therapy.
The rest has been history. I have fallen in love with the art of psychotherapy, and I feel so
privileged to work with people in this way. As a Nigerian-American, I am glad to hold space for,
and introduce the concept of therapy to cultures who are less familiar with it.

I am a lover of life and truly a goofball. Outside of the therapy room, you can catch me
out for drinks with my friends, binge-watching the Real Housewives franchise, or cooking a
good meal. I also like going on walks or curling up on the couch with a good book.
I bring much of my energetic and matter-of-fact personality into my sessions and have
honest conversations with my clients. I will hold you accountable, challenge you, and guide you
into becoming the best version of yourself—as an individual, as a couple, or as a family. I am
training in Restoration therapy and will help you to identify and understand your cycle of pain,
which has kept you stuck in maladaptive behavioral patterns. We will then work to restore and
identify your peace cycle, so that you may behave out of your human agency and become an
agent of love and trustworthiness in your interactions with others.
I utilize family systems theory, solution-focused, and mindfulness-based techniques in my
practice. I am aware of the unique intersections and experiences that shape a person, and I
understand each individual client and their case, within the context of their culture.
I am @the.therapydoll on Instagram, where you can find psychoeducational and relationship
content, from my lens.
I have experience working with children, teenagers, young adults, couples, and families. My
specialties lie in working with dyads (couples or parent-child relationships), and individuals
struggling with identity issues and symptoms of depression. I also work with high-achieving
individuals, those suffering from perfectionism, and those presenting with immigrant/first generation issues.
