NOW OFFERING SLIDING SCALE FEES IN IRVING, TX
After my own time as a client in therapy, I discovered that individual therapy was very helpful but limited the full potential for my healing. I had significant relational healing that was necessary to achieve my best self and turned to family therapy where I was able to repair and reconnect with myself and my loved ones. I also identified a need for mental health care and therapeutic relational support when I worked at a Pediatric Emergency Room throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic. This time working in the hospital opened my eyes to the severity of generational trauma, ineffective communication, and unproductive emotion regulation affecting the entire family unit. After that time, I began to volunteer at a Veteran non-profit serving disabled veterans where relationships and support are crucial parts in their recovery journey yet, their loved ones are also struggling to adjust to the changes in their family dynamics, partners turned caretakers sometimes feeling overlooked while their loved one is struggling to an adaptive life. The collection of these life events redirected me to change my pre-medical career to the mental health path by pursuing a Master’s of Marriage and Family Therapy at Northwestern University.

I am a Cuban American Californian turned Texan. I moved to Texas 9 years ago to get my B.S. in Applied Physiology and Health Management at Southern Methodist University. I am a Master’s level Marriage and Family Therapy Intern who is passionate about teaching people how to recognize dysfunctional patterns, build a resilient foundation to manage distressing challenges, and grow in confidence to achieve their therapeutic goals. I take a kind yet assertive approach in assessing relational dynamics with the self and those around you. By identifying how feelings inform thoughts and motivate you to act, we’ll work together as a team to improve how this process can shift for a healthier sense of self and relationships. I am ready and excited to take this therapeutic journey with couples, families, and individuals. As a marriage and family therapist intern, I am working towards fulfilling requirements for full licensure and will be providing couples and family counseling on a sliding scale with Collaborative Solutions Counseling virtually or in-person in the Las Colinas area of Irving, TX. I look forward to meeting and working as a team for your best success.
Anna Thomison, MS, LMFT-S will be supervising and guiding me as I work towards completing my practicum requirements for graduation.
