Our expectations for relationships and marriage have changed dramatically over a few generations. Historically, the goal of marriage was about providing, caregiving, and social status. In this century, relationships are also expected to bring excitement, passion, support, and equal division of nearly all responsibilities. With this added stress, it’s no wonder long term, fulfilling relationships are struggling.
Did you know that the average couple waits up to six years to seek help after problems first arise? By then, it is often too late for marriage counseling to be effective.
Don’t wait. Don’t let your relationship fall apart.
Discover the skills proven by extensive research to make love last.

Collaborative Solutions Counseling's relationship workshops teach proven communication and relationship skills based on the Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work Couples Program. This workshop was developed using the book, The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work, written by Dr. John Gottman, PhD and based on four decades of distinguished research.
Good relationships take intentionality and work. Learn how to make the work of maintaining a passionate, loving, and supportive relationship a fun and enjoyable process.
In this workshop you will learn how to:
Class sizes are limited and registering reserves you and your partner's place in the workshop.
For a refund of your deposit or full workshop if paid in full in advance, you must give written notice a full one month prior to first workshop date.
There will not be a refund of cancelations with less than a month's notice. However, you may gift your registration to another couple. If you are choosing to transfer your registration, you must send a written notice two weeks before the first class of the workshop. This notice must include the names, email addresses, and phone number of the couple the registration is to be transferred.
No, the class does not include sharing problems or issues publicly. Couples exercises are done privately.
Since the class involves couples doing exercises together, both partners must participate. If one partner must miss a particular class meeting, then the other partner is encouraged to attend the lecture portion of the class. He or she can use exercise time to read the seven principles book or work through part of the exercises and do the rest of the exercises with their partner later.
Yes, still come to the class. While the book provides very valuable information, the class lectures will summarize the content of the book. Each person will need a Couples Guide, however, to do the Couples Exercises efficiently.
The Gottman Seven Principles Program is designed for all couples in a committed relationship, including:
• Committed Couples
• Married couples
• Pre-engaged couples (those considering marriage)
• Engaged or Premarital couples (those taking steps towards marriage)
• Every phase of relationships, from newlyweds to senior couples
• Those who wish to enhance an already “good” marriage or relationship
• Those needing better conflict management tools
• Those considering couples therapy but who are not "ready" for weekly therapy yet
• People of all backgrounds, ages, Faiths and sexual orientations
*If you are dealing with emotional abuse, domestic violence, unwanted touch, or substance abuse, this class is not appropriate, and you should instead seek individual or couple’s therapy.
The class will involve doing some of the exercises from the book so doing them first at home would duplicate some of them. In some cases, the directions for doing the exercises in class have been revised and updated from those presented in the Seven Principles book. There are some exercises in the book that that the class will not have time to do, and couples are encouraged to do them at home after the chapter has been covered in class.
